In June 2025, severe riverbed erosion at the Cowichan River exposed two critical water mains and a sanitary force main, threatening water service to South End and Crofton while risking catastrophic dike failure that could flood Boys Road residents, Cowichan Tribe lands, and the water treatment facility. This extremely time-sensitive emergency project required rapid mobilization to stabilize the riverbed, protect the exposed utilities, and prevent disaster before major infrastructure failure occurred.
